Hello everyone!
We are now in Jingdezhen. We arrived today. We saw so much in
Shanghai. Yesterday we had a guide from the Jingdezhen take us
around. It was great to be able to communicate through her.
Yesterday we went to an old residential part of Shanghai. It was so
interesting to see where people live. We visited many artists studios and galleries.
Also we were lucky to be there for the Shanghai Biennial. It opened for our last day in
Shanghai. Not many westerners anywhere. Even at the more touristy
places. So we actually had people taking pictures of us!! We also got
into the Shanghai Art Fare. Very lucky. There were lot of security
guards, but our guide from Jingdezhen had friends showing work at the
fare and so we put their passes on.
We got to visit the pottery workshop in Shanghai as well. It is
connected to the one I am at in Jingdezhen. We met Caroline who runs
the workshops.
SO we got to Jingdezhen today and have had a small look around so far. Just can't believe the amount of potters here. Nothing I could have ever imagined. Plus we have only looked in our small area - we still have the rest of the city to explore!
I will keep you updated as often as I can
Love, Erin
