Public Kiln
This is one of the public kilns in the Sculpture Factory where all my work was fired. The front trolley has just been unloaded and the back being loaded and about to be fired. The owner looks like a Chinese version of Mick Jagger! - Jess Lumb
My favourite street in the Sculpture Factory
The mold maker and slip caster are to the left, and ‘my’ kiln just around the corner to the right. It looks quiet here but it is normally full of bikes and cars and people and work drying in the sun. Explosion
I had a bit of a disaster with the last project I was working on. Hearing things exploding in the kiln never makes you feel good! - Jess Lumb
Survivors

The funnest way to travel
I discovered that motorcycle taxis are the funnest way to travel. This is Malin racing me home from the arcade. It was just like one of the games we had been playing, minus the crashes. - Jess Lumb
The only place I know where a family meal comes with 3 drinks!
The KFC down the road makes really good iced coffees and chocolate sundaes and we made a few trips in the last couple of weeks to satisfy cravings. This was dinner one Sunday when we had to fend for ourselves but didn’t want the difficulty of not understanding the menu. It is much tastier and less greasy then the one at home. - Jess Lumb

It was surprisingly tasty but lots of hard work for very little reward. - Jess Lumb
Killing time at Jingdezhen airport
We got to leave from the new terminal building though, which was unfinished when we arrived. - Jess Lumb
Tiananmen Gate
Where Chairman Mao announced the founding of the Peoples Republic of China in 1949. The portrait of him in the middle is seriously huge. Behind this is the Forbidden Palace and behind me Tiananmen Square. - Jess Lumb
